The Hot Chocolate for the Home Table

For The Hot Chocolate for the Home Table, the counter starts with Whole milk 16 oz, sugar, and Ghirardelli unsweetened cocoa powder. Portion it for 2 people.

Count on 2 minutes of prep, 5 minutes of cooking, about 7 minutes from the first measurement to the plate.

Ingredients Method

What goes in the bowl

  • 2 cups Whole milk 16 oz
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Ghirardelli unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 5 oz semi-sweet baking chocolate I used Ghirardelli, chopped
  • Large pinch kosher salt
  • 1 egg yolk

How the cooking goes

  1. In a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate on 50% power in 30 second intervals.
  2. Meanwhile, heat the milk and sugar in a small pot over a moderate flame. The sugar will help to prevent it from burning. Once it starts steaming, whisk in the cocoa powder, melted chocolate and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil and turn off the heat.
  3. With the immersion blender running, add the egg yolk to the pot and blend in the egg. You can also transfer it to a blender or food processor.
  4. Tip into two mugs, top with an impossible number of marshmallows and enjoy.

After it comes off the heat

Give the plate the rest the method asks for. Cover leftovers and refrigerate them when the dish includes meat, eggs, or dairy.
