Blondies for the Dessert Plate
Prep 15 minutes · Cook 20 minutes · Total 35 minutes · Yield 20 Bars

Set out all-purpose flour, baking powder, and baking soda before you start Blondies for the Dessert Plate. The batch is written for 20 Bars.
Count on 15 minutes of prep, 20 minutes of cooking, about 35 minutes from the first measurement to the plate.
What goes in the bowl
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup unsalted butter melted, 2 sticks
- 1 cup dark brown sugar packed
- 1 cup light brown sugar packed
- ½ cup butterscotch chips optional
How the cooking goes
- Line a 9×13 inch baking dish with crisscrossed baking paper and heat the oven to 350°F conventional or 325°F convection (with fan). You sprayed and lined the pan with one piece of baking paper then secured the sides with metal binder clips.
- Warm the butter in a large heat-safe bowl in the microwave. You can also do this in a small pot on the stovetop. Then, add the butter to the large bowl. Whisk together to flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium mixing bowl, if desired.
- Put the dark and light brown sugar to the melted butter and whisk until completely combined.
- Whisk in the eggs and the vanilla extract until no streaks of eggs remain.
- Put the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and kosher salt. Stir until a cohesive batter forms. Fold through the butterscotch chips.
- Tip the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly with an off-set spatula.
- Oven-bake the blondies for 18-20 minutes until they are puffed completely. The edges will be deep gold, and the top will be completely matte. The blondie will start to deflate, and that is normal! Allow to cool at ambient temperature before slicing on a cutting board.
After it comes off the heat
Let the pan settle before you slice, so the crumb stays together. Cover leftovers once they are cool.
