The Symphony of Fall Flavors: Maple, Pumpkin, and Pecan

Delicious Fall Pumpkin Trifle Dessert

The Maple Pumpkin Trifle is more than just a dessert; it’s an experience. Each spoonful delivers a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that perfectly capture the essence of autumn. At its core is the luscious no-bake pumpkin cheesecake filling. Unlike traditional cheesecakes that require baking and cooling, this version is whipped to perfection, offering a light yet rich consistency that melts in your mouth. Infused with warm pumpkin purée and a generous dose of aromatic pumpkin pie spice, it provides that unmistakable fall flavor everyone craves.

Complementing this creamy delight is the maple pound cake. While you can certainly use a high-quality store-bought option for convenience, developing the recipe with my signature Maple Pound Cake elevates this trifle to an exceptional level. The pound cake’s dense, buttery crumb, subtly sweetened with maple, provides a sturdy yet tender foundation for the creamy layers. If maple isn’t your preference, feel free to substitute with my light and fluffy sour cream pound cake, similar to how it’s used in my popular berry trifle, or even a rich maple cake for an extra touch of sweetness. For those who love a baked twist, incorporating pieces of my baked pumpkin cheesecake could also add an interesting dimension. The beauty of this easy trifle recipe lies in its adaptability!

Finally, the toasted pecans add a crucial element: texture. Their buttery crunch provides a wonderful contrast to the soft cake and silky cheesecake, while their nutty flavor enhances the overall autumnal profile. A drizzle of pure maple syrup throughout the layers ties all these elements together, creating a truly unforgettable dessert that will have everyone asking for “just one more spoonful.” This is truly one of the best fall desserts for a crowd, an effortless yet elegant choice for any autumn celebration.

Effortless Elegance: Why This Trifle is a Must-Make

Easy Trifle Recipe for Fall

When searching for autumn dessert recipes, ease and deliciousness are often at the top of the list. This Maple Pumpkin Trifle delivers on both fronts. The “no-bake” aspect of the pumpkin cheesecake filling significantly cuts down on preparation time, making it an ideal choice for busy schedules or when oven space is limited during holiday cooking. It’s truly one of those pumpkin dessert recipes that’s easy for the whole family to love, from the youngest to the oldest gourmand.

The visual appeal of a trifle is unmatched. The clear glass dish beautifully showcases the distinct layers of creamy pumpkin, golden pound cake, and crunchy pecans, making it an instant showstopper. Despite its impressive appearance, the assembly process is incredibly straightforward – a simple layering of components that even novice bakers can master with confidence. This trifle recipe is one you absolutely should not miss this season, promising an experience of delightful flavors without the stress.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Maple Pound Cake My recipe here or store-bought variety

For the No Bake Cheesecake Filling:

  • 454 g Cream cheese
  • 75 g Granulated Sugar
  • 75 g Dark Brown Sugar
  • 75 g Pumpkin Purée ¼ cup
  • 2 T Pumpkin Pie Spice My Mix Recipe Here
  • ½ t Vanilla
  • 1/8 t Salt
  • 340 g Cream

Additional Toppings:

  • 520 g Cream for the topping
  • 2 cups Pecans toasted (optional)
  • 80 g Maple Syrup

Instructions

Make the No-Bake Cheesecake filling:

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the softened cream cheese until it is smooth and lump-free, about 2-3 minutes. Add the granulated sugar and dark brown sugar, continuing to beat until the sugars are fully incorporated and no visible granules remain, creating a creamy, sweet base.
  • Next, add the pumpkin purée, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Beat these ingredients together on medium speed until they are thoroughly combined and the mixture is uniform in color and texture. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure everything is well mixed.
  • Switch to the whisk attachment on your stand mixer. Pour in 340g of cold heavy cream into the bowl. Whisk on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. The mixture should be thick and hold its shape, making a luxurious no-bake cheesecake filling. Be careful not to over-whisk.
  • Prepare your maple pound cake by cutting it into uniform cubes, roughly 1-inch in size. This will make for even layering and easy serving.
  • For the topping, whisk the remaining 520g (about 2 cups) of heavy cream until soft peaks form. This can be done by hand with a whisk or with a mixer. I prefer to keep the whipped cream unsweetened to balance the richness of the trifle, but you can add 2 tablespoons of confectioners’ sugar if you desire a sweeter topping.

Assemble the trifle:

  • To assemble your magnificent Maple Pumpkin Trifle, begin with a thin, even layer of the no-bake pumpkin cheesecake filling at the bottom of your trifle dish. This foundational layer provides stability and a burst of flavor. Follow with a layer of your cubed maple pound cake. Drizzle generously with maple syrup, allowing the cake to soak up the sweet, amber liquid. Scatter a handful of toasted pecans over the cake for added texture and nutty flavor. Repeat these layers—cheesecake, cake, maple syrup, pecans—until you reach the top of your trifle dish. Finish the final layer with a generous amount of your freshly whipped cream. For an elegant garnish, sprinkle a few additional toasted pecans on top, or drizzle with a touch more maple syrup if desired.
  • Once assembled, cover the trifle tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve. For the best flavor and texture, it’s highly recommended to make this trifle at least 1 day in advance. This allows the various layers to meld together beautifully and the pound cake to absorb some of the moisture and rich flavors from the cheesecake filling, resulting in a more cohesive and delicious dessert experience.
